Week 3 of the college football season will include three Top 25 match-ups and will be headlined by an important SEC West showdown in LSU and Auburn! We will also see Ohio State travel to the lone star state to take on TCU in AT&T Stadium, and the Boise State Broncos take a trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma in which should be full of fireworks. 11 of the top 25 teams will be on the road and should make for some interesting predictions.

Last Week: 3-2

#17 Boise State and #24 Oklahoma State in the over (64.5)

The Broncos have put up 118 points so far this season (818 total yards last game which is a school record) while the Cowboys have had 113 points. But both teams have fairly average defenses’ so expect Brett Rypien and Taylor Cornelius to get whatever they want Saturday.

Texas (-3.5) over #22 USC

I expected more out of the Trojans last week but seeing JT Daniels and Aca’Cedric Ware struggle in their road match-up against Stanford really showed me that this team has a ways to go. Texas and USC are almost like the same team from different conferences, both have high expectations and usually won’t find an identity till the season is midway finished. Sam Ehlinger has thrown for 500 yards this season and I would expect Texas to get the sloppy victory on their home turf.

Ole Miss (+21.5) over #1 Alabama

Now obviously I expect the Tide to win this game, but playing in Oxford has always made Bama work for their victories. Plus, the Ole Miss offense is nothing like the Arkansas State or Louisville offenses’. Heck, for some reason this game has a larger Over than the Boise State/OK State game (69.5)! In a headline of Hawaiian Quarterbacks, I give Tua Tagovailoa and the Tide a 17 point win.

#5 Oklahoma (-18.5) over Iowa State

The Sooners look for revenge this season after the Cyclones gave them their only loss of the regular season last year in Norman. OU is coming off an impressive 49-21 win over UCLA while ISU is coming off a 13-3 loss against Iowa. Kyler Murray, who has just entered the Heisman finalists watch should have another great game and the Sooners should get a 3 TD win.

Kansas (-2.5) over Rutgers

Two of the worst Power 5 teams, the Jayhawks, and the Scarlet Knights, will square off in Lawerence in what will be a who wants it more game. Luckily after a terrible loss to FCS program Nicholls State, KU got an impressive road win against Central Michigan, 31-7. The momentum will, or least should translate back to their home field and should win by at least 3 points.

Even though TCU is playing in almost a home game, expect Ohio State fans to show up to Arlington loud and proud. This will be a competitive first half until Dwayne Haskins and the Buckeyes turn it up in the 2nd half. The important thing for TCU fans to understand though is that a close loss to Ohio State will look good on the resumé if they were to win the Big 12.

In the game of the week, this a big game for #7 Auburn because if they are not able to defeat #12 LSU at home, how will they manage against other SEC West competition like Miss State, and most importantly Alabama? Jarrett Stidham should win the quarterback battle easily against Joe Burrow but the LSU defense will make this game interesting. They have something to prove themselves after dethroning Miami in week 1. I’m not convinced enough that Auburn wins this game easily, but I do feel they will get this victory.
